When I first found out I was pregnant I was horrified. I was already taking care of three little girls on my own. Getting pregnant again was not in my plans. The birth father and I decided to give the whole parent thing a try. Not even 3 months into the pregnancy, he took off and wanted nothing to do with me or my pregnancy. After a lot of careful thinking and long talks with my mom, I decided that adoption would be the best thing for this precious life I had growing inside of me so quickly.

I searched for a good adoption plan. I went through many agencies. Unfortunately, due to my abuse of prescription medications, it was hard to find an agency that wouldn’t drop me the moment they found out. While sifting through agencies I came across a website which had a testimonial about how wonderful Elizabeth was and how helpful and supportive she was through this woman’s situation. Without hesitation I called the number.
From that moment on Elizabeth never left my side. It didn’t take her long to figure out I was self-medicating. I was taking more than 4 times the prescribed doses of two of my medications. Despite my issue and all my drama, Elizabeth stood by my side. Although I was more than 200 miles away from her office, she made me feel like she was minutes away if I needed her.

Towards the 5th or 6th month of pregnancy doctors discovered that the baby may have had growth issues. The diagnosis of dwarfism was mentioned. My biggest fear was that my chosen adoptive family would back out and once again, I would be dropped from another agency or firm. But instead of being dropped Elizabeth and my chosen family rallied around me even more and became even more supportive.

During my seventh month of pregnancy Elizabeth came up with a plan to help me get off the prescription drugs so that the baby and I both would have a better chance at life. She was able to find me a wonderful detox program designed specially for pregnant women. During my twenty-one days in this program she did everything in her power to make sure I was comfortable and happy. I even recall a Friday night when she canceled personal plans to come and visit me because I was frustrated and ready to give up. I can honestly say if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t be clean and free of the drugs today.

I successfully completed the program thanks to her love and support. Once it came time to deliver, again she never left my side. I decided to have the baby in a hospital close to where the adoptive parents resided so that they could be apart of the whole experience. Because I was so far from home, I had no friends or family to be with me at the time of delivery. Elizabeth stayed with me the whole time, over night and through the next day. When delivery didn’t go as planned and an emergency C-section was in order she was there to calm me down and tell me everything was going to be okay.

After the baby was born I assumed I would be on my own. In my mind I would no longer be needed and all the loving, caring attention that was being shown towards me would come to a stop. It was the complete opposite. Not only did she continue to give me the love and support I needed at that time, but she made sure that I was completely satisfied with terms and conditions of the adoption agreement.

To this day she continues to stay in contact with me and is always there when I need her. My experience with Elizabeth has exceeded my greatest expectations. I am so thankful that God placed her in my life. I just want to thank her again for everything she has done for me and for changing my life.
